K & J Orchards
What we buy: Apples for ‘Red’ and ‘The Prescription’ and pears for our seasonal offerings
K & J is a family owned farm located in the central northern part of California’s Central Valley in Yuba City and Winters. A UC Davis professor and a registered nurse, James A. Beutel and Kalayada A. Beutel, started the orchards, respectively. This husband and wife team also has two daughters who also assist in the day-to-day operations. You can find them year-round at farmers’ markets (we find them at the Ferry Plaza on Tuesdays and Saturdays) and on restaurant menus of the most distinguished establishments throughout the bay area.
